Lake Claire
Lake Claire offers a tight community that is affordable. Influenced by its proximity to Little Five Points, it is an eclectic mix of craftsman houses, bungalows, 1950s cottages, and new development. And its people, like its homes, are “a fun mix of distinction and harmony” according to the neighborhood literature.
Just east of Candler Park, Lake Claire is a closely-knit neighborhood. Organizations like the Lake Claire Community Land Trust (which has purchased a 7-acre green space for the benefit of the neighborhood), Lake Claire CoHousing, the Lake Claire Garden Club and Lake Claire Neighbors provide a strong community feeling. Lake Claire Park at Lakeshore Drive near McLendon features a playing field, tennis court, and playground equipment.
Although Lake Claire does not have a lake (the name comes from Lakeshore Drive, which used to lead to the now-dry Lake Ponceana), it does boast its location on the Eastern Continental Divide, between the watersheds of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Residents have recently completed a Watershed Mural on Dekalb Avenue.
Lake Claire homes range from $299,000 to $899,000.
